Strengths and Career Achievements
Tony brings valuable experience to help companies build winning product propositions and lead their development in a timely and cost-effective basis to effective launch and commercial success.
Tony worked 9 years for Mars, the private confectionery and pet-food business. He worked in a small team to create the new Ice-Cream and Drinks businesses, responsible for negotiating with external co-manufacturing partners, and developing the frozen and chilled supply chain. He went on to do an international business development role before becoming marketing director of the Italian subsidiary, where he was responsible for the launch of a new recipe Mars bar, miniatures, Skittles.
He spent 14 years with GSK Consumer on both Rx-to-OTC switch programmes and oral care. He directed the pan-European launch of Sensodyne Rapid to block Colgate’s Sensitive Pro Relief introduction. He managed a pan-European programme to develop the gum health brands Paradontax, Corsodyl/Chlorhexamed to >10% growth and brand leadership. He led the global innovation initiative which resulted in the acquisition of Biotene for dry mouth sufferers.
Most recently, he was the Sales & Marketing director of infirst Healthcare, a pharmaceutical start-up. He led the pharmaceutical development, regulator filing and clinical development of new products in the cough, inflammatory pain and chronic wound categories. He built the sales and marketing teams before launching the new brands into the pharmacy and healthcare markets.
He has further developed his skills by teaching New Product Development at an international business school, working with young entrepreneurs on their business plans, and continues to work with start-ups coming out of Oxford University.
Tony has Natural Science degree from Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD.
